Once I’m dressed, I have breakfast, but the doorbell interrupts it. Ring. I look through the spy hole and see it’s Brianna. I open the door with a smile. I’m glad to see she’s not upset, but she looks shattered. She pushes past me and heads into the kitchen. Flipping the kettle on, she proceeds to make herself a very strong coffee—in silence, I might add. Once she’s sat down on the couch in the living room and taken a few careful sips, she finally engages with me.

“Spill it,” she demands.

“Spill what?” I ask, confused.

“Last night and all that sex you had,” she says. Oh, my God!

“You heard that?” I ask sheepishly.

“I’d have to have been deaf not to hear that. I think the whole block heard you. The stories me and my mum had to make up to tell Cody what was happening up here was unreal. It’s safe to say we all got zero sleep last night. Now I know how Michael’s neighbours must feel.” She moans, taking another sip of her coffee.

“I’m so, so sorry,” I gush with embarrassment.

“Never mind sorry, just tell me all about it,” she says slipping her feet out of her slippers and tucking them underneath her bum. It’s then that I realise she’s still in her pyjamas. I feel so awful but what the hell am I going to tell her? I had the most gorgeous vampire screwing my brains out all of last night? You know the one, the one you were brainwashed into forgetting!

“Well …” I try to start.

“I thought you didn’t like Alex, but you sounded like you really liked what he was doing to you last night.” She giggles. Alex? Ohhhhh, she thinks I slept with Alex.

“I didn’t sleep with Alex,” I blurt out. Her eyes nearly pop out of her head. I slap a hand over my mouth. Damn it.

“Who was it then?” she asks eagerly. How am I going to explain this one?

“I can’t tell you,” I say regretfully.

“He isn’t married, is he? Please tell me he’s not,” she asks riveted.

“No.” I shake my head vigorously. “You know I would never do anything like that!” I say, offended.
